It is the essential function of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to be responsible for managing the overall financial operations, and will provide accurate information to Senior Management, including analysis, budgeting, forecasting and preparing financial reports. The CFO will be responsible for directing and managing SUBNET’s accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, as well as the preparation of financial statements. The CFO also maintains SUBNET's accounting systems and implements changes as required.

A successful Chief Financial Officer at SUBNET Solutions Inc. is organized, self-motivated, and has a passion for excellence. You will need to work well in a fast-paced environment, traverse various technologies, engineering teams, and client types.

The Chief Financial Officer reports to the President.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring the successful and profitable execution of the company’s strategy direction.
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Establishing, monitoring and maintaining internal controls to support the financial infrastructure.
  • Working with Senior Management to define, measure, analyze, improve and control current processes.
  • Presenting financial reporting and potential risk areas to senior management.
  • Overseeing accounting, financial reporting, analysis and preparation of the consolidated financial statements, including schedules for tax compliance.
  • Reviewing and editing statements to align with business requirements and industry standards.
  • Providing financial analysis statements including monthly balance sheets, income statements, cash flows statements, and actual to budget and last year variance analysis.
  • Preparing yearly budgets, forecasting and billings.
  • Preparing company accounts for auditing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance.
  • CPA, CGA or CMA designation
  • 5 to 10 years experience in accounting, acquired in related industries
  • Experience with Sales and Purchasing Cycles, processing of travel expenses and commission calculations
  • Familiarity with GL entries and reconciliations including banks, AR and AP
  • Solid understanding of accounting concepts such as debits and credits, assets / liabilities / revenues / expenses and transaction cycles such as sales/receivables/receipts and purchases/payables/payments
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of accounting and financial management
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, practices and budgets
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel, AccPac
  • Management and/or supervisory experience.

  • Very adept at working with large volumes of numerical documents and reports.

  • Clear communicator and ability to communicate financial information to a non-financial audience.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks is considered an asset.
  • Desire to learn.
