BC Hydro Selects SUBNET’s PowerSYSTEM Center Technology
SUBNET Solutions Inc. | April 27, 2015
SUBNET Solutions Inc. (SUBNET) has been selected by BC Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro) to supply a new device management solution to manage and secure access to more than 1,500 Cooper Form 6 reclosers and SEL 751 feeder protection relays within their distribution network in the province of British Columbia, Canada.
BC Hydro has selected SUBNET’s PowerSYSTEM Center product for its device management solution. PowerSYSTEM Center will provide a central access point for BC Hydro that will enable them to: provide role-based engineering access control; manage the configurations, firmware, and passwords; capture and monitor event data; and report on system activity for those intelligent devices.
“First and foremost, BC Hydro chose SUBNET because they ensure that we can integrate all of the distribution devices within our network into one solution, regardless of manufacturer, and still be able to support our substation and transmission equipment. We couldn’t find anyone else who could actually do it. The SUBNET product will allow us to, quickly and easily, access and use the device event data, something that has been a difficult, labor intensive and error-prone process in the past,” said the BC Hydro Project Lead.
“This BC Hydro project is exciting for SUBNET because it demonstrates how their need for a universal integration solution within their modernized Smart Grid environment is directly aligned with SUBNET’s product vision. We are thrilled that BC Hydro is expanding their use of SUBNET’s products beyond the substation to include our power system solution as well. We look forward to our future collaboration,” said Ameen Hamdon, President of SUBNET.
