The CIGRE Canada Conference on Power Systems recently got underway on September 6.
CIGRE, the International Conference on Large Electric Systems, was founded in 1921 to promote the collaboration of utilities and other related enterprises on both the national and international level. Part of CIGRE's purpose is to identify and promote power systems of the future such as the smart grid and the annual conference provides a forum for industry leaders to share their expertise.
This year's conference features a number of speakers who will address a variety of topics including the smart grid and other possible solutions for utilities in the future. In addition, its transmission and distribution planning will be discussed at the conference, which is being held at the Marriot Halifax Harbourfront in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The conference typically attracts a wide variety of prominent players in the power systems field including business leaders, system operators, manufacturers, academics, policy makers, engineers, and regulators.
Such conferences are important for the sharing of ideas related to the smart grid, substation automation and other such issues and that is why these events are monitored by companies like SUBNET Solutions, which seeks to connect substation and grid monitoring devices with utility business intelligence systems.
