DistribuTECH buzz heightens as event draws near
SUBNET Solutions Inc | Tuesday, January 10, 2012
As DistribuTECH Conference and Exhibition 2012 approaches, participants and attendees are getting ready for what is said to be the leading event in the smart grid industry, with advancements in technology to be discussed as well as applications of new software and hardware used by utilities.
The conference will feature more than 135 speakers from utilities across North America, as well as more than 350 of the industry's top speakers. The Department of Energy will be in attendance, and a breakfast keynote presentation has been slotted to discuss cyber security events and improvements.
SUBNET Solutions Inc. will be featured at the event, where it will be showcasing its newest technologies on the tradeshow floor. The company will also deliver paper presentations that detail the smart grid initiatives undertaken by several of the leading utilities in North America.
At booth number 1819, where SUBNET will be located, participants can learn from the multi-vendor substation automation expert, as well as test out some of its latest technology. Those who stop by can learn about SUBNET's total IED management solution, which helps utilities address NERC reliability standards through SUBNET's PowerSYSTEM Center solution. The system includes comprehensive IED configuration management, IED access control, IED password management and IED event file collection.
The company will be on hand to answer questions about its SUBNET One Architecture, which was designed to effectively manage and configure substation IEDS. The program shows utilities how to implement a redundant substation architecture that is simple to configure and maintain. The company will also discuss its substation data gateway solution, which doesn't require vendor-specific hardware, allowing a utility to choose the hardware option that best suits its own operations.
At the event, SUBNET will also answer questions on how to future proof substations using SUBNET technology, as its specifically multi-vendor solutions enable utilities to take full advantage of the newest IED management technology without having to replace current hardware.
SUBNET will be featured in four presentations throughout the course of the event. Advanced Substation Management at Snohomish County PUD will be presented by Wojtek Czyz, Systems Engineer, SUBNET Solutions Inc., the Cybersecurity Development Activities presentation will be given by John Stewart, Specialist Engineer, Tennessee Valley Authority, Automated Wind Turbine Curtailment will also be presented by Czyz, and the Las Vegas Auto Restoration Case Study will be discussed by Travis Jaffray, Technical Product Manager, SUBNET Solutions Inc.
The event is scheduled for January 24-26 in San Antonio, Texas.
