Experts to discuss cyber security at GridComms panel

A panel of experts will meet on October 22 to discuss the current state of smart grid security, which will be headed by Ernie Hayden, managing principal for energy security at Verizon.
The group will meet at GridComms in London, and will delve into the issues and opportunities that have come up in regard to protecting the smart grid and its vast technologies from cyber attacks.
Hayden is expected to make a major or contribution at the event, as the seasoned veteran of the power utility industry has extensive experience with critical infrastructure protection, information security and cybercrime.
Panelists will discuss a broad scope of topics, including security when deploying advanced metering infrastructure and other intelligent electronic devices. The overall goal of GridComms is to bring leaders together from all over the world to spur innovation, and discuss the application and management of smart grid systems.
SUBNET's products help utilities ensure their grid networks are in compliance with stringent standards set by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. These rules are based on critical infrastructure protection, and if violated, can result in millions of dollars in fines.
