Agenda details were recently announced for an event that will focus on smart grid security.
The CIO Utilities Summit will be held in mid-June in Scottsdale, Arizona, and it will feature a session titled "Securing Utility Infrastructure: Beyond Blocking & Tackling," it was recently revealed.
Among other topics, the session will address how the defensive approach to cyber security that is currently being employed in a number of areas will not be enough to protect the smart grid and other critical pieces of infrastructure from attacks. In addition, it will speak to the need for the implementation of risk management programs in order to maintain smart grid security and other such priorities.
"CIOs and IT executives in the utilities industry are concerned about smart grid security and are looking for best practices and tactics that will help them keep their data and their customers’ information safe. Cyber security threats are escalating every day and it’s important for technology leaders to get ahead of them," Christian Morato, the event director of the summit, said.
Representatives from Lockheed Martin and a global security company will help lead the session, according to a release.
