SUBNET is a featured presenter at this year's event where together with TRICO Electric Cooperative a paper will be presented entitled "Benefits of a Unified Substation Architecture for a Small Utility". The following is the presentation abstract:
TRICO is a non-profit cooperative serving more
than 38,000 rural customers in southern Arizona. TRICO is challenged by the
geographical dispersion of its assets and sought a solution to reduce travel
time to its substations and automate operations. The solution also needed to
integrate with the current substation hardware and build upon the current
computer network.
SUBNET's architecture & technology met TRICO’s
business requirements to streamline processes and improve reliability.
Operations and engineering departments are able to remotely configure substation
devices and analyze event files to minimize outage time.An additional
benefit to TRICO was the ability to implement secure access to equipment and
meet future security standards as part of the solution. This benefit came at no
additional cost as it is an integrated part of the total solution.
The solution makes operations easier, faster, and more
secure.
