Wide Area Network
Also known as a WAN. A Wide Area Network is a network of computers that
is larger than a LAN (Local Area Network). A Wide Area Network connects LANs to each
other to form a large geographic network. Within the utilities industry
a Wide Area Network could consist of hundreds for substations networked together for
SCADA.
